The Golden Calf
The people saw that a long time had passed and Moses had not come down from the mountain. So they gathered around Aaron. They said to him, “Look, Moses led us out of the land of Egypt, but we don’t know what has happened to him. So make us some gods to go before us and lead us.” 2 Aaron said to the people, “Bring me the gold earrings that belong to your wives, sons, and daughters.” 3 So the people collected all their gold earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took the gold from the people and used it to make an idol. Using a special tool, he shaped the gold into a statue of a calf. Then the people said, “Israel, here are your gods! These are the gods that brought you out of the land of Egypt!” 5 Aaron saw all these things, so he built an altar in front of the calf. Then Aaron made an announcement. He said, “Tomorrow will be a special festival to honor the Lord.” (Exodus 32:1-5)
------------------------------------
In brief since Moses didn't arrive within the time he told them he will return, so the children of Israel, thought he's not coming back and asked Aaron to make them an idol to worship! And without hesitation Aaron obeyed their orders and Fashioned the golden calf, also the Talmudic commentary is also as bad as this part of the story but that's for another time.
Notice how Aaron in verse 5 said “Tomorrow will be a special festival to honor the Lord.” Aaron after making the golden calf (I.e a god) is now declaring let's do a festival for this god LORD which in Hebrew text is YAHWEH (לַיהוָ֖ה)
We can now say Yahweh was also known as the golden calf (Cow) and that's according to Aaron whom Yahweh himself declared as the spokesman of Moses... If not why would Aaron consider to declare a festival for the golden calf if he thought Yahweh was separate and not the Cow!!!
So now Yahweh was idolised as a cow shame shame
-------------------------------------
It will well
known from the Bible, that Aaron fashioned the Golden calf for the Children of
Israel.
When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the
mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to
him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the
man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become
of him.” So Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold that
are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to
me.” So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in
their ears and brought them to Aaron. And he received the
gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden
calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up
out of the land of Egypt!” (Exodus 32:1-4)
Here’s the problem, the children of Israel demanded
Aaron to “make gods” for them which Aaron did, he fashioned “a golden calf”.
They have turned aside quickly out of the way
which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped
it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of
the land of Egypt. (Exodus 32:8)
And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned
against the LORD your God, and had
made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the
LORD had commanded you.
(Deuteronomy 9:16)
If Aaron supposed to have fashioned “a golden calf” why
did the Jews say “These are your gods”? (plural) how many golden calf did Aaron
make? In many place the Bible makes it clear there was only “ONE GOLDEN CALF”
so why then did the Jews speak of many gods?
----------------------------------
Yahweh לַיהוָ֖ה the golden calf!
He took this from their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool and
made it into a molten calf; and they said, "This is your god, O Israel,
who brought you up from the land of Egypt." Aaron saw how excited
the people were, so he built an altar in front of the calf. Then he announced,
"Tomorrow will be a festival to the LORD! " (Yahweh לַיהוָ֖ה) (Exodus 32:4-5)
----------------------
According to Exodus, Aaron
fashioned a “golden calf” and called it “Yahweh לַיהוָ֖ה”. Why not called it something else why Yahweh?
According to Exodus, Aaron
fashioned a “golden calf” and called it “Yahweh לַיהוָ֖ה”. Why not called it
something else why Yahweh? he explicitly said "Tomorrow will be a festival
to the LORD! " (Yahweh לַיהוָ֖ה) i.e the golden calf is (Yahweh לַיהוָ֖ה).
read the Hebrew text.
Thus, the golden calf, “an idol” was known as Yahweh and worshipped by
the children of Israel. Unless you say, just because the golden calf was named
Yahweh this does not make it God. And that’s exactly our point with your
pathetic moon god saying case closed!
” He [Aaron] took this from their
hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it into a molten calf.”
(Exodus 32:4)
So I told them, 'Whoever has any
gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the
fire, and out came this calf!" (Exodus 32:24)
“At that time they [the
Israelites] made a calf and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing
in the works of their hands.” (Acts 7:41)
interestingly,
the golden calf came out the fire miraculously!

the fire, and there came
out this calf" (Ex. 32:24). It is not written here, "And I cast them
in," but "And I cast it in the fire, and there came out this
calf." The calf came out lowing, and the Israelites saw it, and they went
astray after it.
Rabbi Jehudah said:
Sammael entered into it, and he was lowing to mislead Israel, as it is
said, "The ox knoweth his owner" (Isa. 1:3).
