In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
The Hebrew word used for God is Elohim (אֱלֹהִ֑ים). Trinitarian Christians use this verse to prove Genesis 1:1 is speaking of more than one God i.e. that Yahweh and Jesus and the holy spirit were all present when the earth was created, as Elohim is plural nor singular. However, this false claim has been disproved by Jewish rabbis, many articles have been written on this subject which can be found online. Im going to focus on a different point. Suppose for arguments sake we even accepted this absurd claim that Genesis 1:1 is talking about more than one God, then our Christians friends would have to tackle this problem.
we read in Genesis 32, that Jacob wrestled with God and won. Not only did he win the fight, his name was changed from Jacob to Israel.
"Your name will no longer be Jacob," the man told him. "From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won." (Genesis 32:28)
Whats interesting is that the hebrew word Elohim (אֱלֹהִ֑ים) is used, the same as Genesis 1:1. Same is found in the book of Hosea
Even in the womb, Jacob struggled with his brother; when he became a man, he even fought with God. (Hosea 12:3)
Again, the same word in Hebrew is used for God Elohim (אֱלֹהִ֑ים). Now if we take what trinitarian Christian claim that Yahweh and Jesus and the holy spirit means Elohim cross referencing to Genesis 1:1, then this would mean Jacob wrestled with Yahweh and Jesus and the holy spirit and beat them, in Biblical language over powered them!.
Do Christians believe Jacob wrestled with Yahweh and Jesus and the holy spirit , and over powered them?
Yahweh
defeated
Houston we have a
problem
According
to the Torah, Jacob defeated Yahweh (Genesis 32:28). This ia also confirmed by
Hosea 12:3 that "Yahweh" was defeated by Jacob. The Talmud tells us,
according to Prophet Elijah the Jews defeated Yahweh (Talmud Bava
Metzia 59b)
What kind of god is this who gets defeated by his own
creation?
Interestingly the
Arabic bible says, " JACOB DID JIHAD WITH GOD"
= Jihad with God
MashaAllah I like this observation
