Divorce

Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?” “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ ? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” “Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?” Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” (Matthew 19:3-9)

---------------

The above Passage which abrogates a law from the Old Testament has more to it than you may think. Interestingly, Jesus of the New Testament clearly tells the Pharisees that one of the Mizvot which Jews thought was part of the “613 laws” was actually a command by Moses.

In verse 8 we read Jesus saying “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning."

MOSES PERMITTED YOU TO DIVORCE YOUR WIVES? How could this be when this command is part of the 613 laws commanded by Yahweh himself?

If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, (Deuteronomy 24:1)

According to Jesus, Moses himself permitted this law, which somehow became part of the 613 laws that was spoken by Yahweh. This seems to create a problem when it comes to the law of God as he states all his statues and laws must be obeyed. Jesus goes one to say it’s because of their hard hearts Moses commanded such a ruling.  One wonders what other laws of Moses has blended in with the 613 laws? This shows the Torah laws are from Man and God mixed

  1. Part of the Old Testament Law dealt with the matter of a husband who accused his new wife of not being a virgin when he married her. If such a charge was leveled, “then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin. Her father will say to the elders, ‘. . . Here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.’ Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town” (Deuteronomy 22:15–17). If the proof of the bride’s virginity was given, her husband who made the false accusation was punished and fined (verses 18–19); however, if no proof could be found and the charge was true, then the unvirtuous bride was stoned to death (verses 20–21).

That's alright then. A non-virgin was to be stoned to death. Seems fair?

The “cloth” used as proof of a bride’s virginity was the material containing blood from the bride’s broken hymen.

But in the case of war booty, the supposed virgins were outsiders. If the so-called virgin was sullied, then to have sex with her would make the Israelite soldier to become unclean. How is the virginity check to be made without sticking ones dick in?

With no medical facilities, no gynecologists, no surveys on virginity, and no social or familial leeway to allow for sexual promiscuity, the Israelites had to rely on the test mentioned in the Law.

And that is okay when it is Israelite on Israelite action. But how would someone verify a claim of virginity? Just take their word for it?

    (what does that mean)
Really? Are you a flower in the attic or what?

There are specific rules against Rape and those that engage in it, get the Death Penality.
Absolute ballix. You really should learn the contents of your silly books and stop relying on fuckwit apologists, they just make you look even more stupid than you already do.

Here's just one example where rape isn't punishable by the death penalty.

    Deuteronomy 22:28-29

    28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, that is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

29 then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he hath humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.

If the guy is caught in the act of rape, he has to reimburse the girls father for sullying his property. And the rapist has to marry the ex-virgin. She doesn't get a say in the matter.

In Genesis, Lot's daughters get him drunk on two consecutive nights and incestiously rape him. Or at least that's the version handed down to us, some scholars believe the auld bastard just fucked his daughters, but the story got sterilised in translation. Either way, it's debaucherous behavior. God rewards the actions by giving the two girls male pregnancies and Lot his male heirs, Moab and Ammon.

This is the same Lot that offered his two virgin daughters up to the crowd in Sodom, for rape.

Your lack of knowledge, naivete, and downright denial, is becoming tedious.
